In 2003 the Foundation sponsored two of Hong Kong’s young cricket talents. Recognizing the need to develop young cricketers in Hong Kong the Foundation secured two places at the prestigious Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy in Adelaide Australia. With the assistance of the Hong Kong Cricket Association, Thomas Marrin and Togesh Mahtani were selected and sponsored to travel to Adelaide and participate in the world’s finest cricketing finishing school run by the Australian Institute of Sport.
The Goal
We are hoping that the skill sets the players were exposed to in Adelaide will not just rub off on Thomas and Togesh, but also on their team mates back in Hong Kong. With ongoing support we can raise the standard of cricketing skill and experience through youth cricket by exposure to advanced levels of the sport. Hong Kong’s future in tournaments such as the Asia Cup, HK 6’s and the World Cup rely heavily on the support of youth cricket.
Where are they now?
Thomas and Togesh continue to thrive in their club cricket set up…
